Privacy Policy

Last updated: Three weeks ago

This policy explains what information the Fraction Calculator site collects when you use our fraction calculator, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can.

1. Who we are

The site is run by the Fraction Calculator team, based in the United States. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at [email protected].

2. Numbers you enter in the calculator

The fractions you type are processed in your browser to show the result. We don’t send them to our servers or store them.

3. Information you give us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, plus anything else you include, such as the problem you entered or your device and browser.

4. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server and the tools we use may record technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, the page that sent you to us, and the date and time of your visit. Cookies and similar technologies are covered below.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use:

  • Essential cookies that the site needs to work. Visitors can use the calculator and read the guides without any account or login cookie.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which help us see how the site is used. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may then not work as expected. You can also stop Google Analytics from collecting data with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

7. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful and where the calculator needs work. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We look at this data in summary form, not to identify individual visitors.

8. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as far as they need it:

  • Email and contact form: the form on our site, which sends messages to our email inbox
  • Analytics: Google Analytics, as described above

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.

9. How long we keep information

  • Contact messages: up to 2 months after we reply, then deleted
  • Server logs: for the period set by our hosting provider
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months, then deleted automatically by Google Analytics

10. Security

The site uses HTTPS, so information sent between your browser and our server is encrypted. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
  • Ask us to correct wrong information
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Object to or limit how we use it
  • Withdraw consent you gave, such as for analytics cookies, at any time
  • Receive your information in a portable format

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

12. Children’s privacy

Many of our visitors are students, so we keep children’s privacy in mind. The calculator works without an account, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children should ask a parent, guardian or teacher before using our contact form. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us, and we’ll delete it.

13. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

14. Links to other websites

Our guides link to outside sources, such as the math standards and textbooks we cite. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for how they handle data.

15. Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy when our practices change. The last updated date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site.

16. Contact us

For privacy questions, email [email protected] or use our Contact Us page. You can also read our Terms and Conditions.
